The campaign of Laxminarayan women agricultural cooperative organization: 'women empowerment'

Laxmi Narayan women agricultural cooperative organization is doing different
agricultural activities in Wami for
the sake of women members. Its main campaign is to take women out from being
limited in daily chores, and other household activities. Their main work for
women is to make them self depended and empowered. It has started various
agricultural activities like potato farming, bee keeping, cardamom farming, and
orange farming and so on.
Recently it has
completed the potato farming and harvested more than eighty five quintal. While
cooperative had done this farming with 20 women residents of Wami.
But while
transporting the harvest, the cooperative got many difficulties, due to the
problem of motorable road. The secretary of cooperative Yamuna Ghimire said, 'the negligence of contractor disrupted the transportation of potato that we
have harvested'. She added, 'the trend of doing developmental works only in the
last of fiscal is negligence of contractor, it is repeating every year'.
According to her, they had got problems last year also.
But after
many weeks of harvest, they transported nearly eight quintal today to the
market.
The
organization had got Rs one lakh 50 thousand from ministry of women, children
and social welfare Gulmi for potato
farming and they had provided one week training about it.
Cooperative
has been doing many admirable and altruistic works for women empowerment. It
has been doing bee keeping in Wami 8
Malarani And Puranagaun. Similarly they have been doing paddy seed
production programme in Wami 9 Shera,
and started Haat Bazzar in Wami 1 Paltar
and they have managed spice factory in Wami.
According to the chairman of cooperative, Dil
Kumari Malla, they are going to start cardamom and orange farming in Wami, for this they are managing seeds
by providing subsidise to women members.
It has
got fame in the short time of establishment. And people are praising it and it
has become the centre for women empowerment. It was registered as cooperative
in 2070 legally. And it has made 512
women members.
